Technologically, HelpMap is based on our successful open-source plugin Open User Map, which already has over 10,000 installations worldwide. This proven foundation has been further developed specifically for municipal use and provides a practical, scalable solution for flood and crisis management.
The approach emerged from the flood disaster of 2024 in Valencia, where within a few hours a functioning digital aid map was built. HelpMap transfers this concept to German municipalities – as a low-threshold, immediately available and future-oriented solution that makes citizen participation visible and enables real digitalization in disaster protection.
HelpMap was presented for the first time in 2025 at the Smart Country Convention (SCCON) in Berlin and is now available to municipalities as an innovative tool for modern crisis communication and neighborhood assistance.
